Understand debt

If you do not pay money, you owe to public authorities or other creditors, the debt is sent to us. Our job is to help you pay it back.

We can do this by taking part of your pay (withholding income) or using your refunds (set-off). It is important for you to get a clear overview of your debt.

  • You can do this on the self-service, Mit gældsoverblik. Here you can see: How much do you owe.
  • Interest added to your debt.
  • Who you owe money to (creditors).

Please note that you need MitID to log on. To get a MitID, visit www.mitid.dk or get assistance at your local Citizen Service center (Borgerservice).

Check your mail

When your debt is with us, we send you letters to help you pay it back. You will receive letters about how much you owe and how we plan to collect the money.

Paying debt through your salary

Most people who have debt with us have a fixed amount taken from their income every month until the debt is paid.

Paying debt with your refunds

We can take money that you are owed by public authorities. This means that money like your tax refund or child benefit can be used to pay your debt.
