Take control of your debt

When you face your debt, you take the first step toward financial control. In the self-service, Mit gældsoverblik, you can see what you owe and pay your debt. You can also see where your debt comes from.

Please note that you need MitID to log on. To get a MitID, visit www.mitid.dk or get assistance at your local Citizen Service center (Borgerservice).

Your tax assessment 2025:

Refunds in taxes?

If you are due a tax refund but have debt to the public authorities, we may use your overpaid tax to offset the money owed.

Your debt status on your self-service, Mit gældsoverblik will not be updated until you have received a message in your Digital Post-app confirming that the offset has taken place.

Did your child benefit go toward paying off debt?

If you owe money for childcare or after-school care, your child benefit will be used to pay that debt. This is called a "set-off."

Deal with your debt

If you do not pay your debt, the Danish Debt Collection Agency is able to withhold money directly from your salary or pension. This is called "withholding of income"
