We assess whether debt should be written off

We continually assess whether debt should be written off. This is an integral part of our statutory debt collection work. If we write off your debt, this means that you will no longer owe the amount.

If we write off at least DKK 200, we will write to you about it. If we write off less than DKK 200, it will happen without you being notified.

Frequently asked questions about writing off debt

We can write off debt:

when we handle bankruptcies, compulsory dissolutions, reorganisations and administration of estates of deceased persons
when we handle debt rescheduling cases, applications for debt cancellation and as a result of the limitation rules
if we assess that it will be evidently pointless or disproportionately costly to continue the collection of the debt.

Evidently pointless debt collection exists when a citizen is in a situation in which it will never be possible to pay the debt.

Disproportionately costly debt collection means that the debt collection expenses are not commensurate with the amount that can be collected – regardless of the financial situation of the citizen or the business.
